English as a Second Language

We offer classes for adults whose first language is not English. Students in beginning classes learn to speak, listen to understand, read, and write English. Intermediate and advanced students have the opportunity to improve conversation, grammar, pronunciation, reading and writing.

Fall classes begin Monday, September 9. New students can join class every week. Most classes are in-person, but there are limited virtual classes for higher level students. Students must be tested prior to beginning class. Once our office receives your application, a staff member will contact you regarding signing up for testing. Testing is available at various locations throughout St. Louis County and will take two days to complete.

Summer 2024 Schedule

Summer registration is closed. Register for fall classes below.

Registration for summer classes is now closed. Summer classes run July 8 through August 14. All students (including former students) must test prior to beginning summer classes. Most classes are in-person, but there are limited virtual classes for higher level students. Testing takes place in June at the Community Learning Center and will take two days to complete. After our office has reviewed your application , a staff member will contact you to sign up for testing.

Spring classes being January 3 and continue until May 16. However, new students can be added to class every week through the beginning of April. The last day to register for spring classes is March 29. Most classes are in-person, but there are limited virtual classes for higher level students. Students must be tested prior to beginning class.
