​​​​​BablerWiLD offers outdoor education programs for youth and families.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​BablerWiLD is a science and nature-based day camp located in Babler State Park offering many opportunities for children in grades pre-K through 8th grade.  Whether you are looking for something to fit into a busy summer schedule, enjoy exploring the outdoors or are looking for a great way to meet new friends, BablerWiLD has something for everyone!  

BablerWiLD Staff

Our BablerWiLD Camp Staff have a heart for working with kids and include​​s a mix of returning counselors as well as counselors new to BablerWiLD. They teach kids, tell jokes, fix scrapes, scare the bugs away, give hugs and make sure campers have an experience they will never forget! Our entire camp staff, from counselors to cooks, is employed by the Rockwood School District, participate in background checks and are committed to providing campers with a safe and healthy experience. The staff to camper ratio is 1:8 or less. Camp staff are trained in accordance with American Camp Association standards.

Camps and Classes

Summer Start Week - Full Day Camp

May 26-29

Start your summer with BablerWiLD!  Camp is in session the four days after memorial day.  Campers get to choose their activities every morning and then take a trip to the pool each afternoon. 

  • ​For youth entering grades 1-5 in the fall
  • Camp time: 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday - Friday
  • Before/aftercare is not available.

WiLD Outdoor Weeks - Full Day Camp

​June 1-5 | June 8-12 | June 15-19 | July 6-10 | July 13-17 | July 20-24 | August 3-7

Unleash your adventurous side, connect with nature, make new friends and have a blast as you focus on outdoor exploration.  BablerWiLD Outdoor Weeks are designed to encourage campers to jump in and learn about nature firsthand through daily exploration and discovery.  Each week is dedicated to a theme and all activities such as crafts, hikes, games, science experiments, outdoor skills, team building activities, and environmental lessons are focused around that theme.  

  • ​For youth entering grades K-5 in the fall
  • Camp time: 9 a.m.-3 p.m.​ Monday - Friday
  • ​Transportation options: Parent drop off/pick up or bus transportation from Carman Trails, Ellisville and Stanton Elementary Schools.
  • Before/aftercare is available at most pick-up and drop-off locations for an additional fee.  This service is available for any child who has completed Kindergarten.  Before/aftercare is not available at the BablerWiLD camp facility located in Babler State Park.

Where the WiLD Things Are

Investigate nature each day! Flip over a rock, see the inside of a tree, learn to use camouflage and join us for an outdoor adventure you will never forget!

June 8-12

Outdoor Arcade

Do you play games on a computer, tablet, or game system? Now you can play those same games, no electronics needed! Join BablerWiLD as we bring some of our favorite video games to life! From classic games like Mario Kart to new favorites like Minecraft, put down the tablets and join us for some outdoor fun!

June 15-19

Summer Camp Classic

Get ready for a classic camp experience! Get outside, meet new friends and join us for a week filled with our favorite camp activities. From Gaga ball to creek walks, crafts, songs, and so much more. There is something for everyone during this week of BablerWiLD summer.

July 6-10

All About Animals

From bugs to bunnies, and beyond…there is something for every animal lover during this week of camp. Learn first-hand about the animals around us and the environments where they live! This week will also include special presenters to provide hands-on experiences!

July 13-17

H2O so fun! 

Think beyond the pool this summer and join us for some water fun! Cool down with water activities all week. Race a boat, get messy with water Olympics, hit the slip n slide, and get ready for some water fun BablerWiLD style!​

Outdoor Escape

​It’s like an escape room, without the room! Jump, crawl, spin, and think your way through a week of games, riddles, puzzles, and adventure in Babler State Park!

August 3-7
WiLD, Wild West

Yippee Ki-Yay! Are you ready to experience the Wild West BablerWiLD style?!? Lasso a “bull”, pan for gold, and take an adventure down the Oregon Trail. This week will be full of non-stop wild west adventures!​

WiLD Half Day Skills - Half Day Classes  

​​​June 29, June 30, July 1, July 2

Venture to Babler State Park for some fun while learning great skills and having fun in our Half Day Skills Classes.  This is a great opportunity to try out some classic outdoor activities like archery or fishing.  Many classes include the option of a morning or afternoon session.

  • Camp time: 9 a.m.-12 p.m. or 1-4 p.m.
  • Transportation options: Parent drop off/pick up; bus transportation is not available
  • Before/aftercare is not available.
June 29 | July 2
Learn to shoot a bow and arrow under the close supervision of the BablerWiLD staff. This class is designed for beginners with minimal experience and all equipment is provided. No outsid​e equipment will be allowed.

June 30
Outdoor Skills
Learn first hand what it takes to light a fire and build a survival shelter. This is a great introduction to some important survival skills!

July 1
Cover the basics and let’s go fishing! Participants will learn to bait a hook, use a bobber, and cast a closed face reel. Fishing poles and bait will be provided. No outside equipment will be allowed.

WiLD Survival Academy - Middle School Week - Full Day Classes

Designed specifically for middle school participants, these classes have been developed to introduce new outdoor survival skills in a fun and fast-paced environment.  With a different focus each day, participants can sign up for individual classes based on their interests.  Come outside and discover something new with BablerWiLD!

Do you enjoy discovering new things and different places? Do you like being outside? If so you will love our Hiking Class! Lace up your shoes, grab some water and get ready to explore Babler State Park and it’s amazing trail system!

Fire Building

It keeps you warm, gives you light, keeps the animals away, and can even help you clean your water. There’s not much a fire can’t do in a survival situation. Join our experienced BablerWiLD counselors as we discover different ways to build, start, and use a fire in the outdoors!

Shelter Building

Sun, rain, wind, snow and hail. Learn how to get out of the elements no matter the situation. First we teach you some basics, then join some friends, grab some materials, and get out into the woods to build an epic shelter of your own!

Find Your Food

You have your fire and somewhere to sleep but... What do you eat?! From Discovering wild edibles to building traps, learn just how to Find Your Food in the wild!

Get ready for some competition! Go head to head against different teams through our toughest survival challenges. Earn points along the way and see if you can be the ultimate survivor!​

​WiLD Mini Camp - Half Day Camp

​​​July 27 - 31

Designed with our youngest campers in mind, this is the perfect opportunity to try out camp for the first time!  Campers are put into groups according to age, and all activities are designed appropriately.  Enjoy some of our class camp favorites like songs, bug hikes, crafts, and games.
