​​​​​​The Babler Outdoor Education Center (OEC), is a 300-acre retreat located in Dr. Edmund A. Babler Memorial State Park in West St. Louis County. We offer environmental, outdoor, recreational, and teambuilding opportunities to individuals and groups of all ages and abilities. 

Open Positions

BablerWiLD Summer Day Camp Counselor

Summer Position: May 20, 2019 - August 9, 2019
Weekday hours: (Evenings and Weekends Off)
Must be 18 years of age
Starting Pay: $8.60/hr

Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • The direct supervision of children ages 4-14.
  • Keeping campers of BablerWiLD Safe while promoting a fun and exciting camp atmosphere.
  • Interacting with both children and parents/guardians on a daily basis.
  • Acting as a positive role model for both campers and staff.
  • Teaching outdoor and science based lessons and games.
  • Performing first aid as needed.
  • Cleaning program spaces as needed.
  • The ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • The ability to have fun, get creative, and act silly.​
The ideal BablerWiLD Summer Day Camp Counselor candidate will have experience working with children and leading activities in an outdoor setting.

Outdoor Education Instructor

Spring and Fall Position
Part Time - Flexible Hours: Day / evening / weekend 
Must be 18 years of age
Starting Pay: $11.26/hr

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Work with students at the OEC who are attending field trips, overnight camps, and scout programs.
  • Lead activities including Archery, Geocaching, Survival Skills, Outdoor Cooking, and more.
  • Lead evening programs including hikes, campfires, and games.
  • The ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Set up and clean activity spaces before and after leading activities.
  • Assist in cleaning the camp faciltiy including cabins and common spaces.
Instructors will be trained on-site for all programs/activities they are expected to lead.


Outdoor Education Nurse

Spring and Fall Position
Part time: Weekday and Overnight hours required
Starting Pay: $14.71/hr

Information about the position:
  • Employed by the Rockwood School District.
  • Missouri LPN or RN License must be in good standing and CPR with AED training required.
  • BSN with pediatric or community health experience preferred.
  • This position is required to be present for the entire program and sleep at the facility overnight.
  • This position will work and sleep in the climate controlled administration building at the OEC.
  • Training by a Rockwood School District nurse may be required.
This position is responsible for the following:
  • Administering medication as needed/prescribed.
  • Communication with parents as needed.
  • Monitoring chronic health problems, allergies, behavioral needs.
  • Review of health histories.​
