March 23, 2020

As you may be aware, today it was announced that schools in St. Louis County, including Parkway and Rockwood, would remain closed through Wednesday, April 22 to mitigate the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).  This decision is consistent with the St. Louis County stay at home order and guidance from local health and government officials.

What this Means for Community Ed

  • All Community Ed programs for youth, families and adults will be cancelled during the time schools are closed. This includes programs in the following areas:
    • Adult Education & Literacy (all locations)
    • Aquatics (including Rockwood Swim Club)
    • Art/Enrichment
    • Outdoor Education (including Trek & Travel trips)
    • Rockwood Thunder Volleyball
    • School-Age Care (Adventure Club)
    • Sports & Fitness
  • We are currently reviewing our spring program schedule to determine what programs will need to be cancelled or rescheduled.

  • We will provide an update by the end of the week and begin issuing credits or refunds for canceled programs at that time.
During this time, Community Ed staff will continue to work remotely and can be reached Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. via the following methods:

  • Email: info@prcommunityed.org

Dear Parkway-Rockwood Community Ed Participants,

The safety of those who participate in Community Ed programs is our highest concern.  This week both Parkway and Rockwood School Districts provided updates to the community regarding developments related to potential cases of COVID-19 coronavirus in St. Louis County.  Here you can find information on steps being taken to ensure the safety of those participating in activities within school facilities, including Community Ed participants:

It is important to note that at this time, St. Louis County Department of Public Health officials do not recommend closing schools.  Both Parkway and Rockwood will continue relying on health experts to provide guidance going forward.  We will be sure to share additional information with Community Ed participants as it becomes available.

In the meantime, we advise Community Ed participants to stay home when they are sick, wash their hands frequently with soap and warm water, and cover their coughs and sneezes.

If you have questions, contact our office at 636-891-6644 or call the St. Louis County Department of Public Health 24-hour hotline at 314-615-2660.
